Lihiya attends fashion week

It's September!!! and that means new month and new updates on Lihiya., This past month (August) Lihiya attended several Fashion events such as Taipei Fashion week and Designer's week in Taipei, which featured top desginers such as Micheal Klien, Issey Miyaki, Twinkle, Hong Kong In Style & Taiwan Designers. Lihiya also attended seminars on global fashion trends, (offered By WSGN) ,global marketing trends(Log
isFashion) and Issey Miyaki & Co.
All these events have been spetacular and have opened doors of experience for Lihiya to develop marketing networks for our Fashion line,Jewelery, Handicrafts and Art created by women In Swaziland.
We were so thrilled that 7 students from a prominent University in Taiwan had a lot of interest not only in African culture but in the culture of the Swazi people.
Inspired by their interest, these lovely students and global trotting fashionistas were on a mission to not only study the royalty of African culture, but to also get a glimpse of our collection made from Swazi traditional frabic. Which they showcased at the traditional reed dance In the kingdom of swaziland.
This new fashion collection presented The rich bright Swazi traditional colors which compliment all skin complexions, personalities and lifestyles. They give a bold yet subtle not in your face coutoure look that fits well with your everyday YOU!!!.

I personally cannot wait to see their documentary film about their experience in the Kingdom of Swaziland and the positive reaction they recieved from the warm faces of African royalty.

Africans Embrace Lihiya

With an audience of young trendy international students, Lihiya held its 4th Fashion Show. The show was a beautiful success, mostly because we did not expect such positive feedback. It was an encouraging opportunity for us for to expand our market not only within Asia, but to other African countries such a Gambia, Sao Tome, Nigeria, Bukina Faso, and Malawi.




Our audience was truly captivated by the Lihiya designs,jewelry, arts and crafts. The best part of the Lihiya Fashion show was seeing our beautiful runway models enjoy modeling the Lihiya collection while their friends cheered them on. All in all the show was a beautiful success. I will post a link with the pictures soon(Really I mean it!!!)



Two days after the fashion show I got on a plane heading straight to the Land of The 2010 world cup fever.!!! During this time I came up with new designs for bags, which were beautifully manufactured by a small group of women. So hopefully you'll all get to see them on our next FASHION SHOW which we'll keep you posted.

We're still around & will be for a really long time

Dear Friends
Thank you so much for your support. It has been forever since we've updated our last entry, and we trully apologise. We've just had some serious time constraints. Its amazing, in Asia there's no such thing as African time. As I'm writing to you I have exactly 10mins to finish updating you on our Lihiya Brand.
As Some of you may know We've experienced the joy of having a wonderful fashion show held on may 14 at the American club. Through this fashion Show we raised funds for Hand Up Congo , a NGO organization seeking to empower women in the Republic of Congo. We also got great reviews on our summer and Spring collection of Garments made from Swazi African Fabric. Through this Fashion show the world got to experience the Royalty of Africa. Arise Event( Hope &Hand up Congo Ball)

We're Excited to announce that Lihiya will have a fashion show at the American Club in Taipei. This fashion show is part of an effort to help empower women in Africa through the Hand up Congo foundation. We're so happy that all the profits from the tickets and 15% of Lihiya profits will give a helping hand to our mothers and sisters in Congo. Please make sure that you come and enjoy a sizzling night of African love on MAY 14 2010 at 7:00pm.. Tickets are 1500NTD. You'll also have a wonderful opportunity to purchase fabrics, garments, jewelery, candles made in the Kingdom of Swaziland and the Republic of Congo.

Preparing for this event has been absolutly inspiring and a joyful experience. I find that the timing of this event is so perfect especially because the week after is AFRICA WEEK AND AFRICA NIGHT here in Taipei. Planing for these events and being a part of them helps me feel closer to my home and most of all encourages me to fall deeper in Love with Taiwan as a country that brings together people from all sorts of backgrounds and yet embrace the beauty of Africa and her people. Lihiya Initiative

Lihiya is an initiative to help women from the Kingdom of Swaziland and other parts of Africa generate income through the purchasing of their handmade jewelery, arts, crafts, apparel, garments, home deco accessories, furniture, cosmetics and other accessories. Our objective is not to only create awareness of Swazi African art , but it is to also give a platform for these women to access the global market. We also seek to encourage grass root investment opportunities for individuals that want to eradicate poverty in African countries, through supporting this cause, and purchasing items made by these women in effort to support their families.
The word LIHIYA is a siswati word for COVERING. Our hope is that we would serve as a covering for women that are devoted to get out of poverty and continue to present a platform that will speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
So please join with us in this effort by viewing out blog with details of fashion show events, displays and exhibits. Please also feel free to view pictures and be updated on our whereabouts. We would love for you to leave comments when ever you can.
